Description
The Bourbonnais, the region where Gannay sur Loire is located, may justly be called the 'real' French campaign. The Bocage landscape is punctuated by many small farms and villages. One side of the Loire is flat to gently rolling and on the other side a very hilly landscape with many lakes and forests.
An ideal environment to explore the beautiful countryside by bike or by foot. Below is a description of one of our guests on the vegetation of the Loire river and there next some links selected by us concerning gardens, nature reserves, National Parks, arboretum, etc. that are well worth a visit.
Description
The river Loire and its surroundig is an unprecedented natural beauty. Not just the the shape of the river but the accompanying sandbanks, increasingly broken by meandering tributaries are scenically very attractive. These sand banks are covered with a fluvial (river supporting) vegetation. The most notable is the originally South American yellow-flowered Water Primrose, Ludwigia grandiflora (view photo).
